Lazy Review: Zoey & The Moment of Zen by Cat Lavoie

Title: Zoey & The Moment of Zen
Author: Cat Lavoie
Genre: Romantic Comedy Chick Lit
Rating: 4.5 Lazy Books

Synopsis:

When coffee shop owner Zoey Everwood takes her obsession with ex-boyfriend Braden too far, everyone—except Zoey—is convinced a bit of fun in the sun at the Moment of Zen Wellness Resort will help her get over him once and for all.

But Zoey's relaxing vacation turns out to be anything but peaceful when she meets Shane Lawson, a resort guest who bears a striking resemblance to Braden. And things get even more complicated when the resort's owner starts spilling secrets about Zoey’s aunt Nessa, the woman who raised her. Add a snarky Wellness Coordinator and Nate Holmes—Shane's grumpy friend—to the mix, and you've got the recipe for a perfect tropical storm.

When Zoey comes back home with a new husband instead of tacky souvenirs, she must convince everyone she hasn't completely lost her mind. As Zoey and Shane struggle to keep the magic alive outside the resort, Zoey discovers that she isn't the only one having trouble letting go of the past. And when Nate drops a bombshell that changes everything, Zoey must decide if the old saying is true—what happens at the Moment of Zen stays at the Moment of Zen.

My Lazy Thoughts:

Zoey is still hopelessly in love with Braden despite being broken up for almost a year now. Not wanting to let him go, she obsessively tracks his whereabouts by checking his voicemail and e-mail messages.

A quick run-in with her ex and a public breakdown later, Zoey was given an intervention by her aunt Nessa and her friends. She was whisked away to the Moment of Zen Wellness Resort, hoping that a relaxing vacation will help her take her mind off Braden - for good.

But relaxing it is not. As if it's not enough that she had to spend a few days in a caffeine and cell phone free zone, Zoey has to deal with a Braden doppelganger, the doppelganger's grumpy friend, and a snarky Wellness Coordinator.

Will the vacation turn out to be a success?

Zoey & The Moment of Zen is a great chick lit book that anyone looking for light reading can enjoy. With a likable heroine and fleshed out characters, this book will get you hooked from the get-go. I especially love Jude and his snarky remarks that had me laughing out loud.

Other than the romance (which is kind of subtle), the lovable characters and their relationship to Zoey, what I truly enjoy about this book is Zoey's character development - how from being flawed and obsessed, she became the new and improved Zoey. That made Zoey & The Moment of Zen a winner for me.

A definite must-read!
